Calculating supply chain carbon: Is a standardised approach to soil carbon measurement possible?

Share

Join us on March 9th with Morrisons, Tyson Foods, BSI and Global Food and Agribusiness Network for an online discussion on the role of soil sequestration in reversing climate change and whether a standardised approach to soil carbon measurement is possible.

Webinar recording is now available here.

Through sequestration, soil plays a pivotal role in mitigating climate change. Improved agricultural practices that promote soil sequestration can help reverse climate change while improving the livelihoods of farmers. However, there is currently no commonly used business standard or approach for measuring carbon in soil. There are many emerging approaches, and more are on the way. So which current approaches can be used by companies today?

In this hour-long webinar, we will discuss:

  • The technologies available for measuring carbon in soil that farmers, landowners, environmental consultants and sourcing companies are using today
  • How these technologies and data collection practices could be standardised – what are the issues, challenges and opportunities?
  • What does business need to do to improve on standardisation, simplification and trust?
  • How standardising carbon measurement could give credit and reward famers and landowners for adopting good regenerative practices

You’ll hear from speakers:

  • Sophie Throup, head of agriculture, fisheries and sustainable sourcing, Morrisons
  • Ian McConnel, director of sustainability – International Business Unit, Tyson Foods
  • Prof Dr Peer Ederer, program and science director, Global Food and Agribusiness Network
  • David Fatscher, head of ESG, BSI

The discussion will be moderated by Toby Webb, founder of Innovation Forum.

Webinar recording is now available here.

This webinar was hosted in partnership with BSI.
