What do smallholder farmers think about sustainable sourcing?

Farmer voices: Insights from on the ground

To set the scene for the Sustainable Landscapes and Commodities Forum 2020, we placed the perspectives of farmers on the ground at the forefront of the discussion. We spoke with smallholder farmers from around the world (Argentina, Indonesia, Brazil, Laos, Philippines...). who shared their key challenges and experiences, whilst answering questions such as:

What prevents you from increasing your farm’s income?
Is there an action from a buyer or NGO that has really helped? What was it and how did it help?
What’s the number one thing that you would like your customers to do to help you and your family?
