CEO session – Business leaders on the roadmap beyond COP 27: Plans and progress

Clock icon 09:00 - 09:30
During COP26 twelve global agri-commodity companies came together and declared a shared commitment to address climate change and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. With a combined annual revenue of almost 500 billion USD, the companies hold a major market share in key agricultural commodities such as cocoa, cattle, soy, and palm oil. Ahead of COP27 this year, taking place on 7-18 November in Sharm-el-Sheik, the companies are due to publish a sectoral roadmap for enhanced supply chain action consistent with a 1.5°C pathway.
In this opening plenary we’ll hear from business leaders on who needs to come to the table and how we must work together to implement the targets that the sector has agreed upon. We’ll discuss:
  • The cross-commodity collaboration required to deliver effective change and scale
  • What needs to change from here: How do we overcome remaining key barriers to sustainable sourcing? Is the landscape approach the only real game in town?
  • What can business leaders do to enable the scale up of support and incentives for smallholders and farmers?
  • How to increase transparency on scope 3 emissions and indirect supply chains – How should the rulebook and guidance look by 2023?
