From ambition to action: How can fashion brands translate long-term commitments into urgent climate action today?

09:20 - 10:00
Calls for climate action have been echoing for years and as an industry collective we’ve convened, conversed, argued, and at times agreed on the essential steps needed to reduce fashion’s carbon footprint. Most brands have created their own roadmap, set their own goals, or subscribed to Science Based Targets. However, long-term aspirations seem to have stagnated short-term wins. Has 2050 gotten in the way of 2025?

In this session, we’ll debate how to lay out a realistic roadmap and translate long-term commitments into effective action. We’ll also discuss:

  • The biggest challenges brands face when transitioning their climate reduction plans into actionable strategies
  • What near-term processes and milestones should brands adopt to achieve long-term goals?
  • Who are the key internal stakeholders crucial for establishing robust, realistic, and successful climate KPIs? How does pre-competitive collaboration factor in?
  • When working towards climate targets, which specific areas should brands prioritize? Product design and circularity? Supplier engagement and decarbonization? Waste elimination?
