For a number of years, we’ve heard that regenerative agriculture is too context specific to define. In fact, there is still no legal definition. Over the same period, we’ve seen a huge increase in the use of the term, but with little action to back it up. Has the lack of standardisation inhibited progress? And without an agreed upon definition, are vague commitments and a lack of substance inevitable?
In September 2023, SAI Global launched a new framework for regenerative agriculture. This is one step towards alignment on a definition that is holistic and, crucially, driven by outputs.
In this session, our expert speakers will discuss:
- The opportunities presented by standardisation of regenerative practices
- Also, the challenges and the potential for unintended consequences
- How we can align approaches across the industry to engage key actors and deliver on regenerative commitments at scale
