State of play – The State of the energy transition: are we on track or falling behind?
Date: Wednesday 19th November, 10.00AM (GMT)/11.00AM (CET)
The energy transition has seen remarkable growth in renewables, yet fossil fuels still account for ~80% of the global energy mix. Progress is undeniable, but ambition and implementation are clearly out of step.
In this opening session of our series, we’ll take stock of the big picture: what’s working, what’s stalling, and what this means for stability, resilience, affordability, and independence over the long term. We’ll explore how legal, financial, operational, and strategic perspectives align — or clash — in practice. We will ask our panel of experts to discuss:
· Are current policy and regulatory frameworks driving or delaying progress?
· Where is finance enabling the transition, and where is capital still cautious?
· From an operational standpoint, are businesses really equipped to deliver on their pledges?
· What does a realistic long-term outlook look like for energy systems under strain?
